Earlier today I had a fun meeting with an old friend Dave Raezer, a college classmate and then briefly a colleague at Montgomery Securities in the mid-1990s. We had lost track of each other when I veered into venture capital and startups while he stayed in equity research... Until a few weeks ago when I discovered that he's found his way into the cleantech sector, having launched Cleantech Approach, a research firm helping municipalities, governmental organizations, and private businesses develop strategies to implement demand-side energy technologies and solutions.
One of the fun parts of my job is connecting great people together and to great ideas, and these days I spend a lot of time connecting and reconnecting with colleagues from other sectors who are now making their mark in clean tech. It's rare that a day goes by that I don't run across a great entrepreneur I've known from a previous life (like Dave) now applying his or her skills, expertise and energy to clean tech. Makes it fun... and makes for a great trend to invest behind.
